LAHORE : PIAF-Founders Alliance enjoys support of all the major city markets, industrial areas, former presidents of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and unopposed success of all of its corporate class candidates is a sound proof of it.
PIAF-Founders Alliance Associate Class team leaders Iftikhar Ali Malik and Sohail Lashari stated this while talking to the businessmen of McLeod Road, here on Tuesday. They said the alliance has only one manifesto and that is to deliver service to the business community, adding that the candidates would ensure implementation of this manifesto in letter and spirit.
While appreciating the role of private sector for rehabilitation of flood affectees, they urged the government to avoid borrowing heavy foreign loans for the purpose as Pakistan’s economy is already suffering badly due to heavy debt servicing. They advised the government to curtail its expenditures instead of getting loans from donor agencies.
PIAF-Founders Alliance leaders stressed the need for building Kalabagh Dam and cut in mark-up rate, terming both the measures absolutely necessary for economic revival of the country. They averred that due to high mark-up, nobody is making new investment and if the mark-up is curtailed, investment situation could get considerable boost.
They informed that the alliance has chalked out a comprehensive plan that would help ensure economic progress and prosperity in the country. This plan would be handed over to the Prime Minister soon after LCCI elections. The alliance, they added, is striving to expedite economic activities in the country, which is a pre-requisite for early rehabilitation of the flood-affected people.
Almost all the major markets and trade groups including Anjuman-e-Tajran and Quomi Tajir Ittehad have already given their verdict in favour of PIAF-Founders Alliance and on September 21, again, they backed the alliance Associate Class candidates, team leaders said, adding all these candidates are known businessmen, well-versed with the issues being faced by the business community. -Brecorder
