QUETTA: The recent devastating floods have washed away and badly damaged at least 980 schools’ premises in different districts of Balochistan.
According to a report issued on Thursday, flash flood washed away or damaged 1788 rooms of 980 schools in areas including Jaffarabad, Nasirabad, Barkhan, Kohlu, Sibi, Killa Saifullah, Suhbatpur, Usta Muhammad, Rojhan Jamali, Lehri, Kot Magsi, Gandakha, Kashmirabad, Harnai, Muslim Bagh, Loralai, and others.
The premises of the schools washed away or collapsed including 38 boys high schools, 06 girls high schools, 19 girls middle schools, 39 boys middle schools, 628 boys primary schools and 250 girls primary schools.
According to sources in the Education Department, no repairing work of the damaged schools could be launched due to two reasons including standing of floodwaters in some areas and non-release of funds in this regard – Thebalochhal
