American sprinter Tyson Gay hopes to break his 100m personal best of 9.69sec at the Zagreb Grand Prix meeting.
“Will I go faster than my personal record? Very likely! Competition is good and the race will be fast. I just hope the weather will serve us,” Gay told Croatian Jutarnji List daily, ahead of Wednesday’s event.
The 100m race will also feature Jamaica’s Nesta Carter, who on Sunday in Rieti, Italy, equalled Gay’s fastest time of the season of 9.78sec.
“I am looking forward to the duel with him (Carter),” 28-year-old Gay said.
“This race could be one of the most interesting of the season. I feel very good, I run great and I’ve been working a lot on my start,” he added – Telegraph
