Allama Iqbal is known to be the thinker of Pakistan as he guided the Muslims of the British India with his philosophy. He is one of the major contributors towards the making of Pakistan. With his knowledge and philosophy we became a guide for the Muslims in India.
Allama Iqbal was born on 9th of November, 1877 in the city of Sialkot. He was not only a great poet that people know him as but also an incredible philosopher whose philosophy led and entire nation. Iqbal energized the Muslims of the sub-continent to know their rights and act accordingly. He truly dedicated his life for the uplift of Muslims in the British India. As a politician his stance was for an independent Muslim state which later turned in to Pakistan. Iqbal became a beacon of hope and a guide of Pakistan.
Iqbal’s education is what led him to be a philosopher and a thinker. After his initial schooling in Sialkot he went to Lahore Government College where he studied Philosophy, Literature, English and Arabic. It was at Government College Lahore that he was enlightened to western philosophy by his teacher Sir Thomas Arnold who was a professor of Philosophy. This is what led him to foreign education and he went to Cambridge and Lincoln’s for law. This gave him the strength and ability to become the thinker of Pakistan.
Iqbal saw western philosophy not as a fear but as a guide. He saw the decay of Muslim hope in the sub-continent and he wanted them to acquire modern education and adopt western philosophy. He understood the superiority of intuition over intellect. Iqbal created a sense of unity among the Muslims and made them realize what wonder they can do with that unity. He time and again emphasized on the importance of education. He convinced Muslims to acquire modern education if they want to compete with the Hindus and the British. This is why Iqbal also set up much educational institution in India for Muslims. Iqbal was the thinker, philosopher and a true guide of Pakistan and his absence is still felt today after many years.
