Eid-ul-Adha also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. Muslims all over the world celebrate it with full zeal. Eid-ul-Adha celebrations start after the Hajj every year but this year in our country the question is whether it is a celebration or a burden.
Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated by the Muslims all over the world with full enthusiasm. It is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. The current situation of inflation this year has proposed for this Eid to be a burden for most of the people. The buying power in our country as deteriorated to a larger extent where people are unable to buy goats, cows and lambs to sacrifice this Eid. It is definitely supposed to be a celebration as its Eid but this year it is not allowing the public to celebrate it with happiness.
The huge expenditures and inflation has left people with helplessness and frustration. Even till few years ago people used to celebrate this Eid with full joy. The current political system of the country is letting the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. This is the reason behind building frustration among people. Many on this Eid cannot afford to buy the animal for sacrifice and is blaming the current government for it. People even from the middle class are helpless this year and they say that they can hardly afford an animal this year.
The poverty is rising and if the inflation is not controlled the time will come when it will also infect the middle class the process goes on. The prices of the cattle have increased tremendously. The ironic part is that the animal festivals are still held this year where the most expensive breeds are for display and the rich ones are coming to claim their animals for sacrifice. This Eid should be celebrated with the poor people and to make sure that even the poor gets a little bit of happiness this Eid. The rich should keep the poor in mind while celebrating their Eid.- Saiyna Bashir
