Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and exchanged views on bilateral defence and security cooperation.

The two leaders agreed that Pakistan Saudi Arabia share great history of cordial relations, deep spirit of brotherhood which was transforming into enduring partnership, says a statement issued by DG ISPR Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa today.
“Both dignitaries have acknowledged that two countries are vital players in regional stability with significant responsibility towards Muslim Ummah,” it said. The COAS reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to safety, protection of Harmain Ul Sharifain, territorial integrity of Kingdom. Both the sides re-emphasized on need to join hands to eliminate the menace of terrorism and reinvigorate the mechanism to roll back extremism. Saudi King and Crown Prince reassured the COAS that they consider any threat to Pakistan’s integrity as unacceptable and will support peace, stability in Pakistan.

Appreciating the achievements of Pakistan amry in Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the Saudi leaders said they hold Pakistan and Pak Army in high esteem. The COAS appreciated growing counter terrorism cooperation, intelligence sharing, limiting space of terrorists and extremists in all domains including choking flow of funding. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior; Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense; Minister of State and Cabinet’s Member Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban; and Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Altoraifi also attended the meeting. – SAMAA
