Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani met his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao on Wednesday. Both Gilani and Jiabao discussed bilateral relations, strategic matters and host of other issues, including Abbottabad operation. The two leaders also discussed Abbottabad operation and its after affects on the regional situation, according to media reports. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Wednesday reaffirmed two countries will maintain an all-weather friendship. The two prime ministers agreed in principle to enhance volume of trade between the two countries and launching development projects in Pakistan. Wen held talks with Gilani at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday afternoon. They witnessed the signing of a number of cooperative documents between the two countries.

Before the close-door talks, Wen hold a welcoming ceremony for Gilani, who arrived in Shanghai Tuesday evening for a four-day visit to China. The signing ceremony followed talks between Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at the Great Hall of the People at the start of a visit to Beijing marking sixty years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Beijing offered welcome praise and reassurance to Islamabad following the May 1 raid on Pakistani territory by U.S. forces that killed bin Laden. “I wish to stress here that no matter what changes might take place in the international landscape, China and Pakistan will remain forever good neighbors, good friends, good partners and good brothers,” Wen said in remarks before the media following the talks. The two leaders later witnessed the signing of three agreements on economic and technology cooperation, banking and mining. An accord on military cooperation also expected to be signed during Gilani’s visit.

According to media reports China will give 50 JF-17 aircrafts to Pakistan on emergency basi Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said earlier that during Gilani’s visit, the two sides will exchange views on deepening bilateral relations, promoting pragmatic cooperation in a wide range of areas and other international and regional issues of common concern. China and Pakistan have established an all-weather friendship and engaged in well-rounded cooperation, giving each other equal treatment, mutual respect and sincere support, said Jiang. Earlier, Jiabao received Gilani and his team members on their arrival at the Great People’s Hall. An active contingent of the Chinese Army presented guard of honour to the visiting PM. – onlinenews
