Sharjah Police arrested a Comoros Islands national who allegedly specialised in stealing motorbikes and luxury vehicles and modified them at a workshop inside his villa. A senior police officer said the suspect also changed the number plates of the vehicles at his villa in Nasseriya. “We initially received a complaint from a man whose 4WD of 1994 model was stolen from Industrial Area 4,” said the officer. A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team formed to investigate the incident found the stolen 4WD parked outside in the driveway. “We saw the suspect walking towards the stolen vehicle wearing rubber gloves. We confronted him and identified ourselves as police officers,” he explained. The suspect tried to violently resist the arrest but was eventually overpowered by the officers. “When we seized the vehicle, we also discovered stolen number plates of vehicles, a balaclava and rubber gloves.” The villa was raided and a number of stolen motorbikes and number plates were found. The villa also housed a workshop which the suspect used to modify the stolen vehicles. Spray paint cans were also stored in the workshop. The police also found a number of runaway maids from Ethiopia living in the villa. – Khaleejtimes
