ABU DHABI: The Department of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police has fined 25,682 motorists for bad driving and impounded 297 vehicles during the 39th UAE National Day holidays from December 1 to 5.The action was taken in and around Abu Dhabi city for over speeding, traffic disruption, over-decorating of vehicles and jumping red signals. “Traffic patrols deployed on the streets and highways have reported the offences of some irresponsible drivers, who caused traffic disruption and chaos as they violated the guidelines and rules published by the department in the local media for the holiday season,” said Colonel Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of the department.He said the department had issued rules along with images explaining the conditions regarding the decoration of vehicles during the celebrations.The action was taken against reckless drivers who decorated vehicles in a way that obstructed visibility as well polluted the environment.“Other offences reported included driving on the opposite direction, causing inconvenience to road users and residents, jumping the traffic signals and unheeding to police instructions – Kahleejtimes
