LAHORE: The Punjab government allocated an amount of Rs14,800 million for the health sector in the budget 2011-12. The health allocation is Rs 300 million, more than the last year’s allocation. According to figures, Rs 693.008 million had been fixed for preventive and primary healthcare, Rs 2220.791 million for accelerated programme for healthcare, Rs 4378.376 million for tertiary care hospitals, Rs 1454.768 million for medical education, Rs 258.058 for research and development in the province, Rs 95 million for devolved projects in the current budget whereas Rs 5,700 million are to be made available in block allocations. – DailyTimes
