KARACHI: Election Commission of Pakistan has postponed polls in NA-254, Karachi due to the murder of Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Sadiq Zaman Khattak on Friday.
Meanwhile President Asif Ali Zardari, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Chief Altaf Hussain, Provincial President ANP Senator Shahi Syed, Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh Chief, Dr Merajul Huda and other political parties have condemned the assassination of the ANP candidate. According to a press release issued from Bilawal House President Zardari has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the unfortunate incident and has directed the concerned authorities to bring the culprits to justice at the earliest. The president said that such cowardly acts by militants cannot weaken the resolve of the democratic forces to participate in the electoral process. – DailyTimes
