KARACHI: Mussarrat Misbah’s selfless and determined efforts were commended and appreciated on March 8 at an award ceremony held by National Hero Foundation. Misbah’s services in the field of beauty and philanthropy had been applauded and admired.
She received the award for undertaking the mission of helping acid survivors and her attempt of reviving deformed lives. She, along with her fellow recipients, shared her views about Pakistani women and urged positive forces to come forward and help the women in dismay and distress, who had been subjected to domestic violence.
Misbah also appreciated National Hero Foundation for gathering successful women from various walks of life and giving them an opportunity to share their views about life of women in Pakistan. Mussarrat Misbah established Depilex Smileagain Foundation Pakistan (DSF), which is a non-profit, non-governmental, charitable organisation undertaking the mission of helping the women who had been subjected to criminal assaults by throwing acid or by being set on fire.
Recently, the similar cause had been appreciated at the Oscars Award and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy brought the first Oscar to Pakistan for her documentary ‘Saving Face’. The other award recipients included Bajia, Salima Hasmi, Bushra Ansar, Dr Shehnaz Dar, Naseem Hamid, Captain Tarana Saleem, Khanum Tayyaba Bukhari, Bushra Rehman, Sofia Kasim, Senator Salma Attaullah Jan, Nargis Sethi, Asma Jahangir, Sheema Kirmani and Justice Majida Rizvi.
Federal Information Minister Firdaus Ashiq Awan was the chief guest and strongly appreciated the efforts of all the women.
