Alexander Wang’s latest collection, shown Saturday Sept. 10, in New York, was also his latest to grapple with his long-running obsessions – how mix athletic sports into chic fashion.For spring 2012, Wang’s response is that when the going gets tough the chic seek protection. This was cool warrior gal chic at its best, yet because Wang is such a smart designer he managed to infuse his sporty aesthetic with a courtly sensibility.
His opening quintet of looks in technical polo and mesh – composed of bomber laser cut jackets, tight shorts and mini skirts – had street credibility, a pages silhouette and an into battle attitude.
