LAHORE: A four-day campaign aimed at cleaning up various parts of the city by The City School to celebrate Independence Day, titled “Lets Bin It!”, kicked off on Thursday evening. On the first day of the campaign, students of The City School visited different areas of Defence Housing Authority in a carnival float and encouraged the public to sign a pledge, stating that they would stop littering. They also distributed bags, badges and car stickers.

City School Regional Director Michelle Amir said that this four-day campaign, organised by The City School in collaboration with Waste Busters, was aimed at creating awareness regarding the dangers caused by littering and to inculcate a sense of civic ownership and responsibility amongst the general public.

Michelle said that the students would engage with and motivate the general public to act as responsible citizens and would pick up litter from the areas they visit. The City School has invited celebrities, government officials and media personnel to attend the event. She said that Carnival Float would visit different places around Lahore, including Defence Housing Authority, Fortress Stadium, Shami Road, Cavalry Ground, Firdous Market, Liberty Market, Gulberg Main Boulevard, Sherpao Bridge, Jail Road and Shadman over these four days, completing its route at The Mall of Lahore. The campaign would continue till August 14. – Dailytimes
