LAHORE: ‘Dialogue 1’, an exhibition arranged by students of Beaconhouse National University’s (BNU) School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD), kicked off on Tuesday at Alhamra Arts Complex.World-acclaimed architect Nayyar Ali Dada inaugurated the exhibition along with SME Business Support Fund (BSF) CEO, Saquib Mohyuddin, and a delegation of businessmen and entrepreneurs from the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). Prominent artists, designers, and senior creative professionals were also present on the occasion.More than 150 works by over 60 students are to be displayed in the exhibition, with the submissions ranging from foundation year students to work from students of BNU’s master’s programme of Art and Design. Various works will also be available for purchase.Following in the footsteps of BNU’s highly acclaimed Thesis Show 2011, the art and design community is all set to celebrate this groundbreaking exhibition exploring the boundaries between art and design, and featuring work from a wide range of disciplines, including sculpture, digital arts, painting, photography, print design, typography and textile. Also, it is Pakistan’s first ever exhibition dedicated exclusively to Design Entrepreneurship.
The curators received complete support from SVAD Dean Professor Salima Hashmi and renowned contemporary artist and SVAD Fine Arts Department Head Rashid Rana. Prominent faculty members, including David Alesworth, Huma Mulji, Umar Hameed and Gwendolyn Kulick also provided guidance and encouragement to the students regarding he exhibition.The exhibition was made possible because of the support from the Lahore Arts Council, especially from the Alhamra Art Gallery Curator, Tania Suhail. The exhibition will continue till June 16 and the gallery will be open for visitors from 2:00pm till 8:00pm on June 15 and 16.
