KARACHI: The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) plans to expand its online branches to more than 1,000 different locations of the country, pacing up its automation process to facilitate larger customers’ base at par with the emerging banking trend.The enhanced automation of banking system will provide one-click banking services to customers on a 24/7 basis. This will also flourish the fiscal potential of NBP’s most widespread branches’ network in the country in line with the modern day requirements of stakeholders.NBP team is restructuring various different areas of its system with an objective to become more focused. The ongoing phase would introduce many new areas for the employments in specialised disciplines.The bank has been moving on a fast track basis towards implementation of Core Banking Application System, a move towards centralisation of operations, while several other modules are also underway in this regard.The fast paced automation will provide rapid customer services; increase in low cost deposits; strong compliance culture and increase of the bank’s fee based income are targets to be achieved under online swift banking system.NBP is the only Pakistani bank that has bagged AAA rating in medium and long term banking against AA+ of other top commercial banks in Pakistan consecutively for the past many years. Also, the NBP heralds an A-1+ in short term banking.
