Countrywide mourning processions mark Youm-e-Ashur

Mourning processions of Youm-e-Ashur (10 Muharram) were taken out and majalis were held across the country today to remember the sacrifice rendered in Kerbala by Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A), his family and companions.In Karachi, the main procession was taken out from Nishtar Park.

After passing through its traditional routes, the mourning procession will culminate at Imam Bargah Hussainia Irania in Kharadar area where a majlis will be organized tonight. In Lahore, the main Zuljinnah procession emerged from Nisar Haweli. It will culminate at the Karbala Gamay Shah this evening after passing through its traditional routes. In Peshawar‚ the main procession was taken out from Imambargah Qissa Khawani Bazar. It will culminate at the same point after passing through traditional routes.

In Quetta‚ the main procession of Youm-e-Ashur has been taken out from Imambargah Nechari Alamdar Road. It will terminate at the same point where Sham-e-Ghariban will be held. In Rawalpindi, the main procession was taken out from Ashiq Hussain Imam Bargah and, after passing through Jaloos Committee Chowk, College Road, Raja Bazar and Jamia Masjid Road, will end at Imam Bargah Qadimi. A number of Alam‚ Tazia and Zuljinnah processions are also being taken out in different parts of the country.

As part of security measure for the processions, reports said, cellular phone services were suspended in Karachi, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Attock, Peshawar, D.I Khan, Multan, Bhakkar, Jhang and other cities. Pillion riding was also banned in various cities, with thousands of police and Rangers men deployed on routes of mourning processions as well as majalis being held across the country. samaa
