After the incident of travelling of 10 Afghan nationals from Islamabad airport to UK with the alleged connivance of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has gave warning shots to the agency.

The minister Wednesday visited FIA Headquarters and chaired a high level meeting there to review the performance of the agency. Senior officials of FIA attended the meeting.
“FIA should be a terror for the criminals and the corrupt. It is time for FIA officials to buck or pack up. FIA has been freed from all political pressures and now FIA should deliver. FIA can turn around the country by its dedicated services,” says a statement of the Ministry of Interior while quoting Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. The minister said that they had to go all around against corruption and FIA should take lead in it. The government would provide all required financial resources to FIA, he assured and added FIA was competing high profile criminals, which needed high level of commitment.
Nisar said that there was no place for the corrupt elements in FIA and the sympathizers of the criminals in FIA would also be apprehended. The chair said that inaction in FIA would not be tolerated and pace of inquiries should be improved. Economic Crimes Wing should expand its scope. On the occasion, FIA officials briefed the meeting about performance of the organization. The meeting was informed that FIA had averted the loss of Rs. 6.1 billion in 2013-14 and 358 Pos were also arrested in the same period. The meeting was further informed that 1100 human smugglers had been arrested by FIA from 2013-14 and 59 most wanted human traffickers had also been arrested by FIA during the corresponding period.

During the meeting it was further told that over the last one year, FIA conducted 111 raids against cyber crimes while 104 cases against Intellectual Property Rights violations were also registered. The chair was told that a major passport/visa scam was averted saving the country to bring bad name. FIA remained active against spurious drugs and registered 38 cases. -nation
