Chinese President Xi Jinping has postponed his scheduled visit to Pakistan in the wake of security fears. The Chinese president was scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on September 14, 2014. According to the sources, Chinese ambassador to Pakistan had requested the government to vacate Red Zone of Islamabad ahead of the Chinese president’s visit.
The message of Chinese ambassador was conveyed to both the leaders of the protesting parties, the sources said. The Chinese officials do not give security clearance for the Chinese president’s scheduled visit, they added. It is pertinent to mention here that both the countries were due to sign investment agreements worth billions of ruppees. -Samaa
