ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry who is also chairman Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan will preside over a meeting of the National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC) scheduled to be held here on Saturday (June 8) in the conference room of Supreme Court Building Islamabad.
According to Law and Justice Commission, the meeting will be attended by Justice Agha Rafiq Ahmed Khan, Chief Justice Federal Shariat Court, Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Chief Justice High Court of Balochistan, Justice Mushir Alam, Chief Justice High Court of Sindh, Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court, Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Muhammad Anwar Khan Kansi, Chief Justice Islamabad High Court and Secretary Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan.
The meeting will review the performance of the Judicial Officers as District Returning Officers and Returning Officers in the General Elections 2013, performance of district judiciary regarding disposal of old cases, and the efforts of investigating agencies to ensure timely submission of challans and actions taken against the delinquent investigating officers.
In addition, the Committee will also examine the implementation status of recommendations made for strengthening the district judiciary in terms of human resources and infrastructure. Apart from this the Committee will consider a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed between the judiciary of Pakistan and AJK for coordination in administration of justice.The Committee will also consider different agenda items related to tax cases, Model Jail for Islamabad and judicial training on terrorism in collaboration with UNODC. – Brecorder
