ISLAMABAD: The Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday stated that the decision over thumb impressions verification would be made by the election tribunals.
The ECP considered a proposal to verify thumb impressions on ballot papers in rigging-hit constituencies after 11th May polls.Secretary ECP Ishtiak Ahmed Khan stated that the NADRA would conduct thumb impression verification when the need arose, added that the record was accumulated for this reason.
The ECP sources said that the ECP has summoned NADRA chief to seek his opinion and finalize the strategy in this regard. The ECP sources also stated that it has received several applications for verification of thumb prints.Earlier, PTI Chairman Imran Khan called for thumb impression verification on ballot papers in rigghing-hit constituencies. – OnlineNews
