But viewers were less than impressed with the Strictly star’s rendition of Randy Crawford’s classic One Day I’ll Fly Away, with one wry user taking to Twitter to comment: ‘It was Kimberley Walsh’s first live performance… I recommend it be her last’.Unfortunately for the stunning singer her National Television Award performance was streamed live to millions and although the 31-year-old certainly looked the part, in a gorgeous off the shoulder gown, she may have stolen the show – but not for her vocal range.Twitter exploded after the performance with many users saying the slim starlet should ‘stick to dancing’ while others cruelly added: ‘One day I’ll fly away, do it now love, that was awful!

Kimberley’s performance wasn’t the only slip up of the evening, with Dermot O’Leary and Darcey Bussell’s ‘on the spot’ dance not working out as well as in rehearsals.Strictly judge Darcey wowed in a red dress as Dermot twirled her round to It Had to Be You until there was a slight stumble on the dismount.Darcey may have almost slipped to the floor but, ever the professional she kept her dancer’s smile on her face throughout.And she recovered enough to present the award in the best male drama performance category.It was a different story for X Factor’s Ella Henderson wowed the crowd with a stunning rendition of Cher’s ‘Believe’ which brought the ITV’s show judges to tears in this year’s series.
Admittedly Kimberly’s evening got off to a rocky start when arrived on the red carpet looking less than perfect in a revealing lace black dress.Her arms were covered in dark lace and the plunging v-neck finish did nothing to enhance her incredibly slim figure while her ankle strap shoes shortened her slender toned legs.TV’s finest took to the star-studded red carpet at London’s O2 Arena, at the only television awards show voted for by the public.Hosted by Dermot, the glittering ceremony aired live on ITV, which may have had something to do with Kimberley’s ‘wobbly voice’.

This year’s Special Recognition Award went to Joanna Lumley OBE, celebrating her acting career, spanning almost 50 years.Lumley made a welcome return to our screens last year with the classic Absolutely Fabulous, where she stars alongside close friend and actress Jennifer Saunders. Lumley was also recognised for her work as an activist supporting the Gurkhas, much of which has been documented on the small screen.The UK’s most memorable sporting year was marked with a special Landmark Award which marked the unforgettable scenes that were London 2012.
Three specially selected young athletes, considered the UK’s ‘ones to watch’ were given the honour of presenting the award alongside TV favourite Clare Balding.London 2012 heroes, Lord Sebastian Coe, Sir Chris Hoy and David Weir CBE picked up the prestigious award on behalf of all those who made London 2012 a truly sensational summer of sport. – DailyMail
