MULTAN: The Citrus Research Institute is playing a vital role in the promotion of citrus fruits across the country.
This was stated by Director Citrus Research Institute Sargodha Altafur Rehman at National Exhibition of Citrus Fruits held in Sargodha, which was also attended by growers and agrarians from Multan with fruits of their gardens.According to Media Liasion Unit Multan, the research institute has provided 9216 plants of different varieties to the growers. Altafur Rehman informed the participants that work was in progress on seedless Orange (Kinnow) and also added that the farmers were being offered plants of seedless fruit of orange by the department.
He said that they had obtained 80 varieties of different citrus fruits from America, Spain and Australia and the varieties were undergoing different experiments.Director Cotton Research Dr Mohammad Aabid also addressed and maintained that exhibition would surely facilitate the farmers for maintaining their gardens. – Brecorder
