ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday announced its short order on the voter lists case, Media reported.
A three-judge bench of the apex court, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed today ruled on petitions of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and by former prime minister Benazir Bhutto alleging irregularities in the voters’ list.
The court ordered that Karachi’s electoral lists should be verified with assistance from the army and the Frontier Corps.The bench said voter lists required a through review and directed that the lists should be compiled and verified with assistance from the army.Votes should not be transferred from one area to another without the voters’ consent, the bench said in its short order. – Dawn
