LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders said on Thursday that the Punjab government closed down 6,000 schools which were opened by former chief minister Ch Parvez Elahi under the Literacy Programme.
The sitting regime also made no serious effort to curtail inflation and unemployment in the province. PML-Q parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly Chaudhary Zaheeruddin further said in a statement that the government wasted billions of rupees on the projects, detrimental to economy and had brought the province under a heavy debt of Rs 414 billion.
The government spent Rs 3,000 billion in five years, but no relief was provided to the masses, he said, adding that the government failed to curtail price hike and unemployment, to provided relief in health and education and maintain law and order in the province. – Dailytimes
