LAHORE, Oct 5 (APP)- FIFA will provide humanitarian aid to help build football infrastructure in wake of devastating floods which caused huge loos of life and property in
“ FIFA Approved three Goal projects while other three will be from Asian Football Confederation and Pakistan in all will get six Goal Projects”,this was stated by FIFA Development Officer Vernon Manilal Fernando and FIFA Development Manager Asia David Borja, the two-men FIFA Flood Inspection Team which is visiting Pakistan in order to meet Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President,Faisal Saleh Hayat and to assess the damage together with the representatives of PFF.They will also plan the rehabilitation work which is being carried out for the survivors of this natural calamity.“ We have proposed Quetta, Sukkur, Mir Pur Khas, Nowshera, Abbottabad, Faisalabad, Multan and Bahawalpur for the coming projects”,said Faisal who thanked FIFA President Sepp Blater, AFC President Mohamed bin Hammam and FIFA Vice President Dr. Chung Moon-Joon (South Korea) for all their love with Pakistani people, Pakistan’s football and PFF.
During their stay at Pakistan, both Manilal and Borja will also visit Faisalabad to check the proposed site for FIFA Goal Project and he will also meet Faisalabad District Football Association’s officials.
“ FIFA has a social role to play throughout the world, one that extends beyond the boundaries of football. The organization has the moral obligation to help build a better world and also to provide assistance in humanitarian operations. Such supportive gestures “will never be forgotten” said Faisal.
Manilal, also one of the Vice Presidents of Asian Football Confederation, added :’ Contributing to alleviate suffering and maintain human dignity during and in the aftermath of man-made crises and natural disasters within the football family is also a responsibility that FIFA takes very seriously. I am here in Lahore to visit the devastated region of flood-struck Pakistan in a bid to use football to bring hope and happiness back to the local people, especially traumatized youngsters”.
While talking about FIFA-sponsored Charity football match Manilal said it will take time as European soccer is currently composed of hectic League Schedule and full international Calendar.
FIFA projects will be dedicated to assisting the Pakistani family in areas such as the construction of the football offices, technical centres and regional youth facilities and to supporting the district’s leagues and youth competitions by providing basic football equipment.“ Based on the observations, it is clear that we will do all in our power to assist the people of Pakistan and our football family in overcoming the challenges which they face at this time. The task is a daunting one and the challenges are many, but these are not insurmountable”, concluded Manilal -App
