Firing incidents in Karachi

At least eight more people fell victim to the recent wave of target killing in the past few hours, raising the death toll to 13.

Some unidentified persons opened fired and injured two persons, Hassan and Wasim, in the Banaras Pull area of Karachi. Both the injured were rushed to hospital where one of them died. Taking notice of the issue, Additional IG Akhtar Gorchani suspended police officials who were patrolling the area.

Three more people were shot dead by unidentified persons in orange Town, UP More and Defence Phase 2 areas. Firing incidents were also reported from Bahadurabad, Sarjani Town and Sadar areas where unidentified persons opened indiscriminate firing and injured three people.Earlier, five people were shot dead in different parts of Karachi. An ANP activist and a police official were among the dead.

Police have also rounded up more than a dozen people from Qasba Colony during a search operation.Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari has returned to Karachi from London. The president held a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and both the leaders discussed Karachi situation, the chief minister briefed president about recent incidents of violence in the city.The president also issued instructions to take stern action against miscreants involved in violence and restore law and order situation in Karachi. – Dunyanews
