Environment changes, global warming triggers floods: Hameed Ullah Jan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 27 (APP): Federal Minister for Environment Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi has said that concrete and result oriented safety measures needed to be taken to combat hazardous effects of flood situation in future.He said that Pakistan is the most effected country due to global warming and we can face worse situation, if melting process of the glaciers remained continue. He expressed these views while talking to the representatives from civil society here on Friday.The Minister said that present flood situation is due to global warming and rapid climate change.He added that whole infrastructure has been affected and negative impacts of present flood are being exposed.

Afridi said that Pakistan will highlight the impacts of present flood situation and its harmful impacts at International forms. It will also be highlighted that global warming and climate change effects are all due to rapidly growing industrialization in Developed countries however, Pakistan is the most vulnerable country in this context.
He urged that World Organizations should come forward and proceed comprehensive survey strategy to access the damages and losses accrued due high flood.
He said that Pakistan will emphasize the International Community to start mega projects in Pakistan so that Pakistan’s socio-eco revival may be possible.
The Minister said that present flood situation has damaged out maximum resources and consistent and concrete measures needs to be taken to rehabilitate the flood effected community, bringing them back to their normal lives, revival of farm lands, reconstruction of homelands, revival of general infrastructure and specially socio-eco systems in the flood effected areas.
The minister underlined that government is leaving no stone unturned to provided relief services in flood hit areas however, civil society and general public should also play their responsible role in this tough time.

organizations for provided relief in flood affected areas – APP
