KARACHI: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday said the political heat created in the country was untimely and uncalled for.
“We need more stability in the country and we have to strengthen the economy as people expect us to exhibit more political maturity,” he said while talking to reporters at the inauguration of 6th Expo Pakistan 2011 at the Sindh Governor’s House. He said that the nation was not ready to accept any unconstitutional step like national government, as similar drama had been repeated several times in the past.
“The nation is now more sensible and will not accept any unconstitutional act,” he added. To a question regarding the US, he said Pakistanis were a sensible nation and a sensible leadership was at the helm of affairs in the country, adding that the defence of the country was in safe hands. Earlier during a call-on by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Gilani welcomed the MQM’s decision to rejoin the government, saying it would help bring normalcy to the city. – PT
