President, CM GB discuss rehabilitation of flood affected

ISLAMABAD, Sep 20 (APP): Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr Monday and discussed measures taken for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the flood affected people in Gilgit Baltistan. The President condoled with the Chief Minister the death of Governor Gilgit Baltistan Dr. Shama Khalid and also prayed for the departed soul. The Chief Minister briefed the President about the measures being undertaken by the Gilgit Baltistan government in collaboration with the federal government for the rehabilitation of the flood victims in Gilgit Baltistan. The President assured that the government would use all available resources to mitigate sufferings of the flood victims in Gilgit Baltistan and rebuild their damaged homes and property.

The President while talking to the Chief Minister also thanked the Chinese government for the prompt support and assistance providing immediate relief to the flood victims in those parts of Gilgit Baltistan which were inaccessible from Pakistan.
The President urged the government of Gilgit Baltistan to take all possible steps in collaboration with the federal government for the rebuilding of damaged infrastructure including homes, schools and hospitals in Gilgit Baltistan soon after the completion of damage need assessment process.
The President also stressed for ensuring transparency in all the phases including collection and disbursement of aid money for flood victims – APP
