ISLAMABAD: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Khalid Shameem Wynne has said that “As long as the Kashmir issue remains un-resolved, this region is likely to remain unstable”. He said “We must therefore continue to find ways and means to find a just solution of the Kashmir dispute as it is only fair to all the people who dwell in this region and the world at large”.He made these remarks while addressing the convocation ceremony of National Security and War Course and Allied Officers War Course at National Defence University here on Wednesday.Addressing the audience Chairman JCSC said “As you know, we are combating wholeheartedly the menace of extremism and terrorism prevailing in our society”.He said people and the Armed Forces of Pakistan have taken up this challenge and our soldiers as well as innocent civilians are sacrificing their lives for this cause.He said “recent changes announced in our neighborhood have geo-strategic implications. We have to first accurately analyse this coming paradigm and thereafter, if required, adjust our policies to meet the likely challenges”.“Self-reliance and pre-eminence of national interests should be our guiding principles”, he added.
Congratulating the graduates comprising armed forces officers, civil bureaucrats of Pakistan and senior officers from friendly countries on successful completion of the course, General Khalid expressed hope that the enhanced knowledge, competence, capacity for analysis and decision making would make them an asset for a nation and the world at large.He also lauded the efforts of the faculty and management of National Defence University. Earlier on arrival at NDU, Chairman JCSC was received by Lieutenant General Agha Muhammad Umer Farooq (President NDU). – APP
