Leading Derby hopes Carlton House, Seville and World Domination all feature among a field of six runners for Thursday’s Dante Stakes at York. The 10-furlong race is a key trial ahead of the Epsom Classic on 4 June.Workforce lost in the 2010 Dante but won the Derby for trainer Sir Michael Stoute and owner Khalid Abdullah. This time, Stoute will saddle the Queen’s horse Carlton House, while Abdullah’s famous silks will be carried by Henry Cecil’s World Domination.
Carlton House was a hugely impressive winner of a Newbury maiden as a juvenile last October but has yet to race this season, while World Domination made a winning racecourse debut at the same track in April.Seville, who will also be making his seasonal debut on Thursday, will hope to give trainer Aidan O’Brien his third successive Dante triumph following the victories of Black Bear Island and Cape Blanco.O’Brien has been without a stable jockey since the resignation of Johnny Murtagh last year and Christophe Soumillon has been booked to ride Seville.Marcus Tregoning’s Yaseer chased home Carlton House at Newbury and arrives at York on the back of a fine third place in the Craven Stakes.Outsiders Ashva, from the Michael Dods stable and Hughie Morrison’s Pisco Sour complete the field. – BBC
