Fire breaks out in Empress Market, Goods worth millions burnt

KARACHI: Dozens shops in Empress Market caught fire,during early hours on Sunday burning goods worth millions of rupees, however, fire was brought under control after continuous efforts of two and a half hours.As per media reports, a fire broke out around 3:30 am in the Empress Market the previous night. Fire engulfed 25% of the market. Fire that gutted Empress Market started from dry fruits’ shops.Fire-brigade authorities said that the fire-brigades from the whole city were called to put out the fire. They added that the reason of fire is yet to known.Burnt Shops were of dry fruits and daily household items.According to fire brigade official, fire-extinguishing vehicles from all over the city were converged at the site to control the fire.Heavy contingent of police and Rangers personnel reached the site of the incident. Rescue teams also rushed to the site, however no casualty was reported. – Onlinenews
