ISLAMABAD : A 21-member high-level German economic delegation arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday on a four-day visit. Calus Baron Von Fersen, an expert representing German Oil & Gas Industry and Renewable Energy sector is leading the delegation. The representatives of German business community as well as officials from federal ministry of economic and technology and Near & Middle East Association (NUMOV) have been included in the delegation.
Apprising about the visit, Embassy of Pakistan in Germany said that invitation and organisation of the business delegation to Pakistan is a practical, hands-on initiative to promote bilateral trade, which offers German entrepreneurs the chance to see that Pakistan is very different from the image they receive through the media.
The delegation will meet with Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Pakistan German Business Forum in Karachi. While in Islamabad, they will have meeting with the representatives of Islamabad Chambers of Commerce and Industry. During their visit to Board of Investment (BoI), the officials of Board, Trade Development Authority and Alternative Energy Development Board will brief them about the investment policies of government and business potential for these companies in various sectors.
The BoI, that has anticipated this visit, would provide the German business community an opportunity to explore possibility of enhancing trade and investment ties with the companies in Pakistan. Later, the delegation will visit ministry of commerce. Since the signing of Bilateral Investment Treaty between Pakistan and Germany, this is the first high-level business delegation visiting country to explore business opportunities.
