HYDERABAD, Sept 14, (APP): Speaker National Assembly Fehmida Mirza has said relief and rehabilitation of the flood-stricken people was responsibility of the government and flood wrecked havoc was a challenge for the nation.She expressed these views on Monday during a visit to the relief camps in Badin where she celebrated Eid with the flood displaced people and also distributed Eid gifts and Watan cards. The Speaker voiced optimism that Pakistani people were a courageous nation and that they would emerge out of the calamitous situation.
She maintained that the government of Pakistan Peoples Party considered the assistance and restoration of the flood affected people its foremost obligation.
Fehmida informed that President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani were themselves overseeing the rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts as to ensure transparency and efficiency of the processes.
She noted that while the government was busy to cope with the flood entailed situation, some undemocratic elements had got into momentum to subvert democracy in the country, however, with the help of the people PPP would succeed in accomplishing the dream and mission of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
By curtailing his all engagements President Zardari had camped in Sindh and observed the Eid there with his people in the relief camps, she said.
Fehmida said the present government was popularly elected by people of Pakistan and that it would foil every local and foreign conspiracy of destabilizing the country besides achieving success in rehabilitation of the flood affected people and prosperity of the entire populace of the country.
