56 new drug inspectors to be inducted in KP health dept

PESHAWAR: In the light of Supreme Court directions for controlling fake medicines Health Department has decided to induct 56 new drug inspectors.To this effect, the recommendations have been forwarded to Finance dept.According to Health dept sources, an affective operation would be initiated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Tribal areas against fake and substandard medicines.Action would also be taken against individuals selling Iranian and Indian medicines.Drug inspectors in KP every month obtain 110 samples of substandard and fake medicines and send them to Laboratory. So far action has been taken against 37 companies in this regard.In order to expedite the operation induction of 56 drug inspectors is necessary. The case in this regard has been forwarded to Finance dept and Public Service Commission.
