BEIJING: Senior Pakistani and Chinese officials during meetings here on Thursday agreed to consolidate “all-weather” friendship and deepen pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.It was resolved when Mr. Xi Jinping, Chinese Vice President and Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China met General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, said a Xinhua report.China has a fruitful cooperation with Pakistan in a wide range of areas in recent years, and will continue to support Pakistan in important projects concerning the national economy and people’s livelihood, and promote the prosperity of both the countries, Xi said.2011 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan and is a China-Pakistan Friendship Year.The two nations will hold events covering politics, trade and economy, the military, culture and sports and education to further people-to-people exchanges,promote friendship and deepen pragmatic cooperation, Xi said.General Wynne said that Pakistan was proud to have a great friend such as China and was willing to support China in issues concerning China’s core interests.Liang Guanglie, Chinese State Councilor and Minister of National Defense,also met with General Wynne.In recent years, the two militaries have seen multi-dimensional cooperation in training, equipment and technology and humanitarian assistance, which has actively helped build the two armed forces, promote bilateral relations and safeguard regional peace and stability, Liang said.
China was willing to consolidate and deepen Pak-China all-weather friendship and push forward friendly cooperation between the two countries and the two militaries.General Wynne said that the Pakistan-China friendship existed not only between the two peoples, but also between the Pakistani armed forces and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).Pakistan appreciates the support China had given in areas such as economy,security and expects the friendship with China will develop to a high level,Wynne said.Gen Wynne, who is on a five-day visit to China, co-chaired the eighth Sino-Pakistani Defense and Security Talks Wednesday with PLA Chief of General Staff Chen Bingde – APP
