ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has appointed two retired judges of the subordinate judiciary, Khalid Amin and Mian Muhammad Javed, as directors (instruction) in the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) for two years. Amin belongs to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Mian Javed is a former judge of the lower judiciary in Punjab. Earlier, the CJP, who is also the chairman of FJA board of governors, had rejected the extension to Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf and Alamzaib Khan, the former directors (instruction), who had already got three extensions since February 2007. The sources said that the CJP had rejected the proposal of their fourth extension and appointed two retired judges to these posts for a two year term. The FJA was established in September 1988 to train new judges, magistrates, law officers and court staff. The FJA also holds conferences, seminars, workshops and symposia to improve the working of the judicial system and quality of work. It also publishes journals, memoirs, research papers and reports – Dailytimes
