PESHAWAR: A flood-hit woman hailing from Pabbi has appealed to philanthropists and non-governmental organisations to extend her financial assistance for the treatment of her ailing husband, who is a Hepatitis-C patient.
Talking to mediamen outside press club on Monday, wife of Mumtaz told that her husband was suffering from the deadly disease for quite some time and abject poverty had made it impossible for the family to provide proper treatment facility to Mumtaz.
The woman further said that they lost whatever little they had in the recent devastating floods, adding that a small house and other household items possessed by the ill-fated family had been washed away by the deluge.
“We are too poor to feed our children and in such critical circumstances how could I arrange money for the treatment of my ill husband, who has been bed-stricken for a long time?”
She lamented that despite running from pillar to post she could not get a single penny from the government after which she was compelled to decided to make an appeal through media.
The affected woman told the mediamen that her husband was admitted in surgical C ward of Lady Reading Hospital.
“I have five children including a girl who are out of school because of financial problems but I wish to send them school,” she desired.
The poor woman maintained that she had already borrowed loans from her relatives for the treatment of her husband and worried how to return it.
