PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtukhwa Owais Ahmad Ghani on Tuesday awarded cash incentives to those promising players hailing from FATA who won medals in the recently concluded 31st National Games besides obtaining positions in National Junior and Senior Championships. The colorful cash award giving ceremony was held at Jirga Hall of Governor House with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Owais Ahmad as chief guest. Secretary Administration and Coordination Muhammad Abid Majeed Malik, PA Khyber Shafeer Ullah Wazir, Director Sports and Youth Affairs FATA Faisal Jamil Shah, players, coaches and other high ranking officials of the FATA Directorate were also present.Speaking on this occasion, Governor Khyber-Paktunkhwa Owais Ahmed Ghani said that there is no dearth of talent in FATA dwellers and for polishing and providing them facilities steps have been taken in right direction.He said, he is happy the way the players of FATA took part in the 31st National Games in just five events but in the coming years there would be a key role of FATA at national and international levels because of the talent that exiting in tribal areas.The government, he said, has the firm resolve to eliminate terrorism and extremism and would ensure all possible measures to provide security to the people of FATA and other part of the province.He assured the youth that all appropriate steps would be taken to provide full facilities to them. “We want to indulge the youth of FATA in healthy activities and for this purpose steps have been taken in the right direction so that the youth would not only facilitate in sports but ensure them facilities in education and health,” the governor added.He said if the youth would find conducive environment in there respective areas so they would not go else where and prefer to serve its own people. “We are doing all out efforts to give the talented youth such conducive environment and want that the youth could stay in FATA and to serve its own people,” the Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani added.“We want to provide conducive atmosphere to ensure active participation of the tribals in the development efforts for the tribal areas and steps have been taken to train the tribal youth enabling them to become useful and self-sufficient citizens of the country,” the Governor remarked.He said the government has taken practical steps to explore and develop the natural resources of the tribal areas to make the tribals the beneficiaries of the resources besides ensuring opportunities to them in the industrial sector by setting up of industries in their areas.
There will be new townships in which facilities like good school, colleges, health facilities and job opportunities with aim to upgrade the living standard of tribals. He said for developing and reaching such set goal billions of funds have been allocated.
He said, the government is also working sincerely for lasting peace,
security and stability in FATA because without peace one can not attract foreign and private investment.He said different programmes have been initiated by training the youth under various skills development program so that they could be made self-sufficient for the future challenges.He said measures have also been taken to develop sports infrastructures in all agencies headquarters only to involve the youth in healthy activities. He also advised both female and male players, who won laurels by achieving name and fame for FATA, to continue hard work and set target in the coming events.
He assured that in 32nd National Games FATA would participate in all events with a bigger contingent.Later, the governor gave away cash prizes of Rs. 30,000 to silver medalists and 24000/- to bronzes medalists and Rs. 7000/- and 5000/- to players, coaches and mangers of athletics, Taekwondo, bodybuilding, Wushu of the 31st National Games.FATA won one silver and four bronze medals in the Games. The other winners are Altaf Hussain (athletics), Muhammad Farooq, Samiullah, Zar Khan, Rehman Gul (Wushu), Najeeb Ullah (Taekowondo), Ismail Iqbal (bodybuilding), Altaf Huissain (athletics), Amir Iqbal (coach), Ayub Khan (manager athletics), Talha Junaid (coach), Shameel Bhadar (manager), Ameer Jan (coach), Awan Hussain (manager), Muhammad Irshad (coach), Muhammad Younas (manager), M. Imran Khan (coach).The Governor also gave 5000/ each of the 28 girls teams of Table Tennis, Badminton and Athletics who represented FATA in different national junior events.The amount paid by PA Khyber Shafeer Ullah Wazir who was present on this occasion – APP
