DERA GHAZI KHAN: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday said the government has taken a number of initiatives to strengthen rule of law in the country. He said after passage of the 18th and 19th constitutional amendments the country’s judicial institution has become truly independent and now it is responsibility of the legal community to work for providing justice to the commonman.While talking to a delegation of lawyers here, the Prime Minister said the government will make every effort for the welfare of legal practitioners.The Prime Minister announced Rs. 2.5 million for Rajanpur Bar Association and Rs. 20 million for DG Khan Lawyers Housing Colony.Out of Rs. 20 million for the Lawyers Housing Colony, Rs. 10 million will be disbursed during the current financial year while the remaining amount will be released in the next budget.
The delegation members thanked the Prime Minister for his keen interest in the welfare of the legal community.They also assured that they would work for upholding the rule of law.They said provision of funds to the bar association and Lawyers Housing Colony would go a long way in addressing their basic problems – APP
