LAHORE: The world’s largest rings were put on display at the Alhamra Art Gallery on Tuesday. A large number of people visited the gallery to see the two rings, the Global Peace Ring, weighing 75-kilogrammes, and the 72-kilogramme Fragrance of Love. The Global Peace Ring has inscribed on it the flags of 210 countries, as well as their names written with gold. Flowers made of silver and zircons are embedded into both the rings. The Guinness Book of World Records declared the Fragrance of Love as the world’s largest silver ring.
Talking with media, Amin Saleem, the manufacturer of the rings said, “I am indebted to God for strengthening my belief in making the world’s largest ring.” He said that during the manufacturing of the rings, it seemed to be a Herculean task, a challenge rather, but by the grace of God, the ceaseless labour of his team and the prayers of his nearest and dearest ones, he succeeded. He further said that, “I’m honoured to accomplish the dream of my late father who longed for such a marvellous ring as a token of love and peace for the whole world. The reason why I chose the words love and peace for the rings is the affectionate and humane philosophy of life.”He added that the flags on one of the rings were an indication of global unity and integrity. He said that peace develops the fine feeling of love for humanity and zest to help the downtrodden and a passion to ameliorate the conditions of the poor. He added that it emphasises upon the security of life with its insistence upon the moral development and material benefits – Dailytimes
