A jirga has settled an old feud between two groups in Battagram and averted loss of more precious lives. Seven people, including former Distract Health Officer, Battagram, Dr Gul Mohammad, had fallen prey to the feud in the past. The jirga, which was held in Battagram on Tuesday, was largely attended among others by MNA Mohammad Nawaz, MPA Mufti Kafayatullah, Alamzab Khan, Qari Mohammad Yusuf and Maulana Farid. The jirga, after three months hectic efforts succeeded to convince both the tribes to end the feud, which was started after the killing of two brothers, Dr Gul Mohammad and Dr Sohrab in 1993. Owing to tension between the two groups, the residents of four villages were pitched in the bloody battle in Battagram.Fida Mohammed, the brother of late doctors, forgave the blood of his kin and announced reconciliation with the opponent group. The jirga on the occasion greeted both the groups.
OUTLAWS HELD: The Mansehra police have apprehended two alleged outlaws in Dera Ghazi Khan, it was officially learnt on Tuesday. Khan Afsar and his brother Sher Bahadar were wanted in Mansehra in many cases of heinous nature, including the murder of six people in Danna area.
Sources said that after receiving information about the presence of the outlaws in Dera Ghazi Khan and their plan to flee to Afghanistan, District Police Officer Sohail Khalid constituted a team and sent it to DG Khan to arrest them. The elite force of Punjab and Mansehra police jointly raided a hotel, arrested the accused and shifted them to Mansehra. The police operation in Danna is also continuing after the killing of six people who, according to the police, were killed by the arrested outlaws. – Dawn
