LAHORE: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday ordered to auction the property of Mian Shahbaz, an ex-MPA, and prepare a complete survey report of Lahore’s housing schemes.The Supreme Court has issued this order under suo moto notice on a letter written by a common citizen of the country. Citizen Azimullah wrote in his letter that he purchased a plot in Venus Housing Scheme of Lahore. After the passage of ten years, basic facilities including electricity, water and roads have still not been provided to the housing scheme. The Supreme Court took suo moto notice on Azimullah’s letter and issued an order to auction the mortgaged property of the owner of the society, Mian Shahbaz, who is also an ex member of Punjab Assembly. The court ordered further that all funds generated from the auction be used for the society’s development.
The Supreme Court also instructed Lahore Development Authority (LDA) that prior to registering a new society, it should be inspected properly in terms of what basic facilities have been provided and monitor the progress of development work to save the people from problems later. Moreover, the Supreme Court disposed of a case of abduction after the kidnapped girl was recovered by police and produced before the court.
The chief justice had taken notice on an application of Ghulam Jillani, resident of Mansehra, requesting therein for recovery of his kidnapped daughter, said a press release. The father of the girl told the court that his daughter Shamim Bibi was kidnapped and the police was reluctant to take action against the alleged culprits. He appealed to Chief Justice for justice and recovery of his abducted daughter.
The case was heard by a three-member bench headed by the Chief Justice. The police recovered the girl and produced her before the court – DailyMailNews
