LAHORE – Federal Investigation Agency on Thursday arrested five people including a Land Acquisition Collector his two accomplices, a human trafficker of red book and a WAPDA official from different parts of the province, said Director FIA Zafar Qureshi while addressing a Press conference at his office.
He said that Haroon Rasheed, Acquisition Collector (BS-16), National Highway Authority, Rafiqur Ahmed Patwari, Ghulam Mustafa Patwari of National Highway Authority Lahore were allegedly involved in demanding Rs 893,000 from 21 affectees whose land has been acquired for construction of Motorway (Mouza Gulzarpur — Mouza Sher Singh). During inquiry, all the affectees had supported the allegations.
The officials of FIA Multan under the supervision of Addl Dir FIA Multan in presence of Judicial Magistrate caught one Muhammad Younis, Assistant Lineman (BS6), office of Superintending Engineer (Manager Operations Sahiwal) red-handed while the said accused person accepting Rs 10,000 as illegal gratification from the complainant (Malik Allah Ditta) on the pretext to re-installing the connection of Cold Storage under ‘Debit Default Policy’. Resultantly, case FIR No. 111/10 on Thursday has been registered. The concerned SDO escaped from the spot.
The inquiry officer has been directed to take legal action accordingly. The investigation is in progress. In another raid Federal Investigation Agency arrested a notorious wanted human trafficker Tahir Subhani resident of Sialkot who is an active member of the network of human traffickers.
As per his criminal record, he is involved in human trafficking to Greece via Iran and Turkey and 6 cases have been registered against him at FIA Sub-Circle Gujrat.
During interrogation, the accused person has stated that 5 persons were booked from Iran to Greece via Turkey and amongst them two died as a result of firing and remaining three were injured. The bodies of two is being brought back to Pakistan – Nation
