Model Town safe haven for dacoits

LAHORE– City’s Model Town, the posh locality where the residences of top PML-N leadership area situated, has become a safe heaven for dacoits as the incidents of street crimes and armed robberies have soared to an alarming level.
Armed bandits riding on motorcycles are fearlessly committing daylight robberies specifically in the G-block area despite heavy deployment of the police around the residences VVIPs to provide them foolproof security.
Believe it or not, the armed bandits held up four different families at gunpoint right at the doorstep of their residence and snatched away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables without any resistance.
Armed bandits held up a housewife at gunpoint shortly after she dropped her children in a school and came back home (124-G), in Model Town. The robbers riding on a motorcycle escaped after collecting her mobile phone, purse and gold ornaments hundreds of worth thousands of rupees.
Few days ago later, two motorcyclists armed with pistols held up a woman outside her residence (127-G-I) at gunpoint and deprived her of gold ornaments, mobile phone and other valuables.
Not enough, another two motorcyclists intercepted a housewife at the doorstep of her house (127-GIII) when she came back home after leaving her kids at a nearby school in the morning. Robbers escaped quite easily after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from her. A couple of weeks ago, two robbers riding on a motorcycle held up another woman at gunpoint in the same locality at the doorstep of her residence (135-G) and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.
The consecutive incidents of armed robberies in the posh locality have spread of wave of fear and terror in the entire locality as the local residents complained that the police have failed to control rising street crime in the area.
The local residents further complained that the Security In-Charge of Model Town is keeping mostly all the security vehicles for his personal use rather than ensuring round-the-clock patrolling.
It is important to mention here that heavy police contingents have been deployed in the locality, where the residences of PML-N top leaders including Mian Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif are located.
When contacted, SP Model Town was not available fro his comments despite repeated attempts.Thenation
