The Swat Qaumi Jirga has expressed concern over the government`s decision to end tribal status of Malaknd Division and has asked it to revoke the decision as the militancy-hit population couldn`t pay taxes.
The SQJ`s spokesman Ziauddin Yousafzai on Saturday said in a statement that grand jirga was being convened to discuss the abolition of tribal status of the Malakand Division and draw further line of action.
The government, he said, should not delete Malakand Division from the list of Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (PATA). BURN INJURIES:
Three persons, including a child, received burn injuries when fire erupted due to leakage of gas in surgical ward of the Saidu Teaching Hospital on Saturday morning, health officials said.
They said that two paramedics and a child received burn injuries and were taken to the casualty ward of the hospital. An eight-year-old boy Mohammad Azam was among those who sustained burns.
The fire also burnt medicine, furniture and record of the ward, officials said. According to them, the patients were rescued before the fire brigade staff overcame the fire.
The administration would soon repair the damage caused to the ward, they said, adding that treatment of the patients would not get affected. Condition of the injured people was out of danger, officials said. – Dawn News
