PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has reiterated that his party would oppose RGST with full force.
“We will oppose RGST and will not allow it to be imposed at any cost. Let the people not run out of patience,” he said this in an interview with a private TV channel.
There should be positive politics in the country, he said adding there should be positive work and positive development in the country.
China and Pakistan had started journey together and China had become superpower in the world today, he remarked.
“We have lagged behind other countries of the region. We want Pakistan joins the countries of highest rank in the world, he stressed.
Nawaz said he hated horse trading. “I have repulsion against the politics of manipulation,” he added.
Responding to a question, he said his party had not taken any decision what it would do if the prime minister would have to seek vote of confidence again. However party would take final decision about it, he pointed out.
The PML-N had joined with hands with the PPP to serve the masses, but, the PPP broke its pledges made with PML-N and the public.
To a question about PML-Q, he said time has gone now for sitting and going with Chaudhry Shujaat.
“Shujaat sat with (former President) General Pervez Musharraf and help him (Musharraf) to become the president and supported him in all his wrong doings,” Nawaz Sharif added.
“There should have been end to unemployment, poverty and inflation and good governance should have prevailed, he underlined. Electricity and gas load shedding was damaging the industry,” he said. “If industry does not run in any country then how the wheels of development would spin forward,” he questioned.
“I was happy over winning of elections by PPP as we wanted to work for reconstruction of country together. We receive taunts of friendly opposition. But I was trying to move ahead for the economic and political stability of the country.”
To another question, he said if PML-N comes into power, the party would introduce revolutionary programmes for public betterment.
“When we talk with China, the opposition and the government become one. Our nation loves Chinese nation. We will give positive reply if positive response of my letter is received from President Zardari”, he added. – Online
Shahbaz sees no ‘political change’
LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said there is no significant ‘political change’ taking place in the country. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a housing project on Saturday, Shahbaz said the scheme will provide ready homes under easy installment plans to people under the monthly income of rupees 20,000.
The chief minister said the number of houses being built under the scheme has been increased from 3,000 to 6,000 in the scheme titled Aashiyana.
He pledged to monitoring the project personally, saying: “I will personally monitor this project for the welfare of the poor and ensure its early completion.”
He said that a comprehensive programme has been evolved for provision of residential facilities and generation of job opportunities.
The chief minister said the launching of low-cost housing scheme in the province is a revolutionary step of the government which will realize the dream of the poor of having their own house.
He said the scheme will have all the facilities including healthcare centres and sports land.
He said 10 percent quota has been reserved for orphans, widows and relatives of martyrs in the scheme and modalities have also been evolved for this purpose whereas the remaining 90 percent houses will be given through transparent balloting process.
He said in the first phase, 6000 houses will be constructed within a year. He said that 70 thousand forms have been distributed so far for these houses. He said that the foundation stone of the link road to Aashiyana Housing Project has been laid and the widening and improvement work of this 17km road from Suae Asal to Raiwind will be started from December 26. He said that the construction of link road will result in provision of modern communication facilities to the residents.
He said that a high standard of construction work of the road will be ensured.
The chief minister said that large scale plundering of national resources in the name of development projects took place in the past and development projects became icons of corruption while the present government put an end to malpractices and transformed these schemes into public welfare projects.
He said the present government has dedicated allout resources for the welfare and uplift of the masses and development projects executed in this era are a proof of this fact.
He said setting up of IT labs in more than 4000 schools of the province, establishment of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund and Lahore Ring Road are only a few examples in this regard.
He said the media is playing an important role in highlighting the real issues and when during Pakistan Business and Investment Conference in Dubai he came to know about alleged irregularities in the purchase of machinery for Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital Lahore, he immediately constituted a committee headed by Director General Anti-Corruption and comprising honest officers to probe the matter.
He said the report of the committee is awaited and in case of irregularities in the purchase of machinery, due punishment will be awarded to the elements involved and if no irregularity was detected, it is hoped that the channel will inform the people about the real facts. Earlier, Secretary Communication and Works gave a briefing regarding link road of Aashiyana Housing Project.
Chairman Punjab Land Development Company and Member Provincial Assembly Sheikh Allauddin, Members Provincial Assembly, Chairman Planning & Development, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Commissioner Lahore, Director General National Logistics Cell, General Manager Sui Gas, Chief Engineer LESCO and other officers concerned were also present. – Daily Mail News
