ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik Thursday said that the academic and training courses of police officials need to be revised.Talking to media here at National Police Academy after the meeting of board of directors, he said that the police officials who would complete their training from the academy would be awarded with Master degree and they would also be sent abroad for further training. He said that we are in contact with Quaid-e-Azam University for award of master degree to successful police officials, adding that the syllabus and duration of classes would be changed and revised in line with modern and international standard.

He said that human rights, children protection, anti terrorist courses and other similar topics would be added in revised syllabus.Malik said that the academy was facing shortage of professional teachers and we are considering to give better incentives including transport and other privileges to attract new teachers. He said it was decided in the meeting that the police officials would be sent abroad for 15 days training on completion of their courses from the academy. He further said that training would be made mandatory for promotion of police officials and different courses would be designed for officials of different grades.Earlier to a question he said that threats of terrorists attacks are there in the holy month of Muharram and all measures would be taken to avert these threats. To another question he said that recruitment in Islamabad police was stopped after complaints of irregularities in recruitment process. However, he said that the process would soon be initiated and completed purely on merit.
