ISLAMABAD: Two Pakistani players Muhammad Siddique and Majid Ali are participating in two different disciplines of Qatar International Open Bowling Championship 2010 to be held in Doha, Qatar, from December 11-19. Secretary Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF) Ijazur Rehman informed APP that the Federation is sending two players for singles and mixed doubles categories of the event. He stated that over 180 bowlers from 60 countries would fight for the top honours during the eight-day international bowling showpiece.“Our players are confident and willing to produce notable performance in the international competitions,” he said.Ijaz said that Pakistan had also participated in the 45th edition of the World Tenpin Bowling Championship in 2009 and the boys did well in Malaysia.
“We have great talent but there is a need to polish that to spark at the international level,” he said adding, The players from all over the world will compete in the singles, doubles, masters, trios and team event fixtures.Qatar International Open Bowling Tournament, to be played from December 11-19, is approved by Qatar Bowling Federation, ABF and WTBA and is open to players from all WTBA member federations.This will be third in a row tournament with EBT (European Bowling Tour) ranking system and is EBT 2011-22 / Platinum. Mohammad Siddiq and Majid will represent Pakistan in the event.Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation is endeavoring to promote Bowling Sport in various cities of the country and for this purpose the Federation is looking to raise exposure of the team by sending them to international events, Ijaz said.“Our two bowlers are playing bowling since 2007 and have attended many events.
